What did you learn?
I learned that most things im my house are not reflective but another thing i did learn is that in a painting you can make the image look distorted and look more like its a reflection off of something. Why did you choose that particular painting? I choose this painting/Drawing because i really likes the way the reflective ball is drawn and that it had a lot of detail that most people would have ignored but it makes the piece much better. How were you creative? I feel that i was creative because i used something i use every day(cereal bowl) which was reflective and that it showed most breakfasts and has been a part of my daily routine during quarantine. What was the most difficult part? The most difficult part of this project was definitely getting the correct picture and have the bowl reflect back but also showing the importance of why i choose the bowl for my challenge.

Warm-Up This Picture shows the effect of the virus and that many restaurants and bakeries close down and are not open all the time and are not as busy as they used to be and that even the workers that are still there are in danger of getting the virus and that they too could be spreading it unknowingly in turn increasing the risk of more people getting it. Photo 1.
Once a busy small town now empty and void of the loud voices and happy people. downtown apex has always been a place people meet up and grab something to eat but do to the situation we are in right now nobody is out and the stores. Other places here are shutting down and it maybe forever due to them not getting as much income as they used too. Many places have started to open back up but it may be too late for some of the places and there might be a new downtown and it may be for the worse because of the absence of the local shops. This picture was taken on a saturday afternoon which is a very popular time around this place but there is a huge absence of people and that nobody can go into stores and other places. Photo 2. This second photo shows the empty shelves of the local food lion. There are many shelves that are empty but this one stands out, This is the Toilet paper and paper towel section and its completely empty. There are many more shelves that are empty such as the easy cook meals and a lot of the meat section. This shows how much people are scared but also following the guidelines and staying at home and not risking exposure to others which in turn helps limit the spread of the virus. Many people at the store wear masks and that there are a lot of safety measures to help protect the customers and the employees such as arrows on the ground, glass at the cash register, masks, and many people following the social distancing rule. Photo 3. This last photo is my backyard and the improvement from before the quarantine This was light practice for the color pencil unit and that i really enjoyed it. the blending of the colors and the different techniques were similar and strange and that I feel like it will help me later on with more of the drawings and the final project.
My Reference Photos Compositional Sketchs In progress photos Final Drawing
This Assignment was to draw and ice cream cone or cupcake using Prisma Colored pencils and that i really enjoyed it and that it will be a very good learning tool to help with my final project later on.
Brainstorming ideas, Compositional sketches, Final sketch with some pen techniques my picture references In progress pictures Final piece Discuss your decision on pen and ink techniques. Why you chose to use one or more. (If you used stippling in certain areas explain why you chose this technique. Explain for all other techniques used).
How did you use perspective? Why is perspective important? How is texture important in your composition? For most of the project I used hatching and I used it very close (lines) to each other so it looking solid black and that i used a very small amount of stippling to get an black background effect on the two bricks(chess pieces) in black to look like it should since it was open on the top. i used perspective for the board in the drawing and it was used to make you feel like you were playing the chess game. I also did not use perspective on the large chess pieces because I wanted it to feel like you were a part of the game rather than just playing it also. Why is value so important in this project? Value in this project is so important because it shows where the light is coming from and that if there is light at all. In my piece I used value for the black and white tiles of the chess board and that it made it look like the light was over the horizon and made the piece feel more real than just being on paper. Describe your craftsmanship (How well the project is crafted technically) I starting by making a pencil drawing of the board using perspective because it would have been very hard to make all of the pieces without a board first. I created the black pieces using the reference photos above and used both hatching , cross hatching, and stippling. The white pieces were created before I colored in the board because i was keeping the pieces completely blank without coloring. I then colored in the tiles of the piece with lighter hatching and finished off the project with large chess pieces alternating the color to symbolize unity. If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance your final outcome? I would have created the larger pieces first since they were in the background and that it was difficult to work around the already there pieces of white and black chess pieces. Another thing I wish I would have done is use more pencil to create everything without as many mess ups while drawing them with pen first. Besides these two flaws i really liked the outcome of the project and I am proud of how it came out. (Only answer if you did fairytale) Which Fairytale or Fable did you create? How did you represent the story in your own way? chess perspective. When applying the pen and ink techniques why and how is it important to make sure you understand the concepts taught in class? That if you don't pay attention in class then you might miss out on something that is very helpful and potentially help make your project better than it would be without that said technique. The many techniques i learned this unit really helped me use what i needed too and what i did not need to since i used hatching and stippling in my project and I feel like it helped my project turn out better since I did pay attention in class and it did help my project look better. As a growing artist how do you think what you have learned will guide and better your future projects. I feel like this project was a good start to the semester and that i would use the techniques like hatching in other units like the colored pencil unit and that also lessons of using my pencil more to help guide me in making correct drawings and little details. This helped me grow more and learn more because of the pace and the amount to be put in and know what to do in the next projects to come. This project also helped me judge the time i need to have in order to work on my project at my pace and get it done correctly and cleanly.
I really liked this mini assignment and it was very helpful for a lot of reasons. One of the bigger reasons is that it's going to help me and my pen and ink project with all the different shadings and pen drawing techniques. Another very big helper was a new way to create shading with the invented and that it can be anything you need and can help make your picture stand out more than just with the hatching and cross hatching. Something that I wish we did was practice on a few more objects from the classroom from our eye than from a video. I did really like the mini assessment and i feel like it was a good refresher for everyone including me.
This Assignment was very helpful to me in the way that it refreshed what I learned the previous year in art 1.
This assignment will help also in the future toward my upcoming project and that it would help towards more future projects. I really like the one point and the two point perspectives because they are easier to learn and do on a consistent basis unlike the 3 pt perspective which takes much more time and it may not always look correct. I am very glad i learned all 3 perspectives because I most likely would use maybe a few more in time to come towards projects. I really liked this assignment because it was unique to us and that it was what we build and that sometimes the lego pieces were hard to draw in perspective but it still came out good. This project was different than any I have done and that I loved doing it. The one Thing I did not like about doing this assignment was the complexity of some of the pieces in perspective and it did not work well but overall it was very fun and unique assignment.
